The Easiest Easter Meal You’ll Ever Make!

By April 6, 2020No Comments

It’s hard to believe with everything else going on in the world right now, but Easter is this weekend!  Whether you’re doing your very best to still make this holiday as normal as possible for your kids, or if you have plans to virtually share an Easter meal with your family, I have you covered with an awesome slow-cooker ham recipe that I know you’ll love.  And here’s the thing to know with any recipe that I’ll ever share here – it’s going to be super easy.  Like REALLY easy.  Because those are pretty much my favorite kind of meals to make and the only ones that I’m good at.  So, here it goes!

GROCERY LIST:

  1. (1) Pre-cooked, spiral cut, ham.  You can get either bone-in or boneless, it can be honey cured if you want, it doesn’t matter.  Also, try to get one that you think will fit best in your slow cooker.  In case you can’t get a spiral cut, you can always cut slits in the ham yourself, but it’s just a little more work.
  2.  Approximately 3 1/2 cups of brown sugar
  3.  Approximately 3/4 cup of honey
  4.  A 20 oz. can of pineapple tidbits

HERE’S WHAT TO DO:

  1. Get out the slow cooker and cover the bottom with about 1 cup of the brown sugar.  I like to use a slow cooker liner because they are awesome and they make clean-up afterwards a breeze!
  2. Put in the ham and pull apart the spiral cuts the best you can so that all of the ingredients you’re about to pour over the top go in between the cuts.  In case the ham that you bought is too big and the lid doesn’t fit on your slow cooker, just use tin foil to cover the edges of the lid if it doesn’t go down all the way.
  3.  Pour the 3/4 cup of honey over the top of the ham.
  4. Pour the entire can of pineapple tidbits over the ham (do not drain, pour the juice in too).
  5. Top with the remaining 2 1/2 cups of brown sugar.
  6. You can either cook on low for about 5 hours or cook on high for about 3 hours – remember that the ham is pre-cooked, so you’re really just warming it up and giving the flavors a chance to cook into the meat.

THAT’S IT!  Seriously, you’ll be amazed by how good this is.  At our house we like it so much that we make it even when we don’t have a special occassion to celebrate!  Add a few of your favorite sides and your Easter meal is done.

Our favorite sides at our house are rolls or corn bread, mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes (you can get some marshmallows, caramel, and use a little of your brown sugar from the recipe above to get fancy like Texas Roadhouse if you want), and then a vegetable (probably the SteamFresh kind that go in the microwave because that’s my style).

Have fun everyone!  I’d love to know if you get a chance to try this recipe!  Happy Easter!

Love, Erin
